Student card Frank

Here you will find information on how to gain your student card and card usage.

The digital student card Frank is needed:

  • in student restaurants in order to be entitled to student discount
  • as ID during exams and when you collect official transcripts of records or certificates of student status at the Student Service desk
  • in order to be liable for student discount in public transport and long-distance trains and buses in Finland
  • in order to get other student discounts in shops, cafes etc. in Finland.

How do I order/activate my student card?

  • The student card is ordered by registration on the Frank webpage.
  • It is possible to access the student card either through a phone app or to order a plastic student card (with or without payment function).
  • You can order your card once you have registered as present and the data has been transferred from Hanken's study register Sisu to Frank – this regularly takes place during the summer months but at the latest before the Orientation Days.

  • If you try to register through the Frank webpage and you receive a message concerning unknown student status, you do not need to be alarmed. The message only indicates that the registration info for the academic year has not yet been transferred to the Frank system and you can try again in a few days.

  • You need to attach a digital photo of yourself when you order the card. The photo does not need to be a passport photo, but you need to be easily identifiable in the photo.
  • If you order a plastic student card you need to pick up an annual registration sticker from the Student Union office in Helsinki or at the Office of Studies and Admission in Vaasa for the card to be valid.
