Settlement proposal turned down

The General collective agreement for universities is under negotiation mediated by Conciliator Janne Metsämäki since February 16, 2018.

A settlement proposal was submitted on 26 February but it was turned down. Hence, the main contracting organisations of the university sector The Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals JUKO, the Federation of Salaried Employees Pardia and the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL held a strike at University of Helsinki on 28 February.

The dispute mainly concerns how to reform the salary system and the level of the salary increase.

JUKO, Pardia and JHL have issued strike notice on 22.2.2018 and the targeted action will take place as a strike at Aalto University, Hanken School of Economics, University of the Arts Helsinki, Tampere University of Technology, University of Tampere, and University of Vaasa. Unless the negotiations reach an agreement, the strike is due to begin on 7.3.2018 at 00.00 and will continue for 24 hours.
