Peter Sarlin named Professor of Practice

Peter Sarlin has been appointed Professor of Practice at Hanken as of this autumn. Dr. Sarlin specializes in machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), with a special interest in applications for financial, economic and societal disciplines.

Besides his extensive academic involvement, Sarlin is also very active in bridging research with business practice. He participates in Hankens profiling efforts through the Academy of Finland project to strengthen quantitative research competencies throughout all research areas at Hanken.

Dr. Sarlin has worked as an external consultant for the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank, and the central banks of Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden, as well as several private organizations.

He is the founder of the AI-focused venture builder Infolytika Ventures, London-based AI for capital markets venture Almax Analytics, and research center RiskLab Finland at Arcada. Currently, Peter is the Executive Chairman and Chief Scientist of a leading AI as a service venture Silo AI.

As Professor of Practice, Dr. Sarlin will work as a conduit between Hanken researchers and organizations particularly in the financial sector with focus or aim at AI applications. He will also continue to be active in his own research and supervisory activities.
