Medal awarded for efforts in science and entrepreneurship

Rector Karen Spens and Hanken Business Lab Director Markus Wartiovaara were awarded the Commemorative Medal of Professor Stefan Kassay Foundation for Science and Education on 30 April 2018 for their work in the field of science and entrepreneurship.

Tibor Králik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Finland and Estonia, presented the medal.

Professor Štefan Kassay Foundation for Science and Education was established in 2002. Its main goal is to promote science using all possible means, especially through publishing scientific works written by acclaimed Slovak authors. The medal is awarded to people active in the field of science and education, who are actively interconnecting science and entrepreneurship within living labs or who contribute to presentation and distribution of publications written by Slovak authors abroad.

“We are very grateful for this award and what it stands for. It encourages us to continue our work for the transfer of science into practice. It further inspires us to continue our development of new forms of both public and private partnerships both with Slovakia and globally”, says Markus Wartiovaara.
