Finnish employers concentrate on cost reduction in Strategic well-being

Guy Ahonen, who is an associated researcher at Hanken, has together with Ossi Aura, Tomi Hussi and Juhani Ilmarinen published their 6th report on Strategic well-being (SW) management in Finland.

The 2016 report is based on 400 survey responses from the main brances of indstry of all sizes. The survey is based on the concept of strategic well-being, which covers all the elements of personnel well-being which affect the effectiveness and profitability of the organization.

The SW- index measures the level of SW-management and ranges from 0 to 100. This year the averge score was 52, which i slightly more than 2014 and considerably more than 2009. The averge SW-expenditure per person is 796 euro per year, which adds up to 1.8 Billon euro for the whole economy.

The report demonstrates that Finnish employers emphasize cost reducing measures instead of productivity enhancing in their pursuit to promote work-well-being.

The research was funded by the Work Environment Fund (TSR). Guy Ahonen is former Professor of KM at Hanken. Currently he is associated researcher at the department of management and organization. Ossi Aura and Tomi Hussi have their PhD's from Hanken. Juhani Ilmarinen is former Professor at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health.
