Diego Vega award winner in Humanitarian Logistics

Hanken’s Associate professor and director of the HUMLOG Institute Diego Vega has been rewarded by the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN). ALAN honours disaster relief efforts by those in the humanitarian logistics and supply chain industries.

ALAN’s awards go to individuals and organisations that have demonstrated an ongoing and sustained commitment to helping others in their time of greatest need – and who serve as beacons of hope before, during and after disasters strike.

Diego Vega received ALAN:s Research and Academic Achievement Award for his many years of research with humanitarian organisations and thought leadership into how different logistics services providers can contribute to the establishment of more efficient and effective humanitarian supply chains. Vega is also the creator and lead educator of the first Introduction to Humanitarian Logistics MOOC which is available on the platform FutureLearn.

“It is very humbling to receive such recognition, particularly overseas for work done for the most part with organisations based in Europe. This shows how much impact our research can have worldwide and how the work of the HUMLOG Institute is relevant for both academics and practitioners. I’m grateful to those who contributed to this achievement and hope to continue supporting the work of humanitarian organizations for those who need it the most,” says Diego Vega.
