The recipient of the Fazer Award 2026 Alice Saraiva
This year the Fazer Award goes to Alice Saraiva. The €15,000 award is given to a Hanken student who demonstrates strong values and good academic performance.

Saraiva is persuing her master’s studies at Hanken in international strategy and sustainability and strives to continue her career in research. She has completed a bachelor’s thesis on how employers can support the integration of international employees through internships, and wants to continue advancing this topic.

Saraiva says that receiving the award makes her feel valued and gives her more confidence.

“Hearing from people with credibility that they believe in me and what I stand for was a relief. I was really happy to hear that these topics are considered important not only at Hanken, but also for Finland as a whole.”

Saraiva adds that the award encourages her to later on start her PhD research about integration, an area she has experienced herself in many ways, since she moved to Finland from São Paulo, Brazil, when she was 19.

According to the Fazer Award Committee, Saraivas' interest and passion in employment-based inclusion for international talent in Finland is a subject that is in line with the strategies of both Fazer and Hanken.

“The Fazer Award Committee sees that it is of utmost importance that more research should be conducted on social sustainability to help build inclusive and responsible workplaces. We want to support Alice in her goals to become a researcher in this field. She is also an excellent role model, as she has herself relocated from Brazil to Finland, learned Finnish quickly, and pursued both studies and work in Finland”, says Christoph Vitzthum, president & CEO at Fazer.
