The discussion will take place at the Aalto University Töölö Campus.
Time: Friday 22 April 2016 at 10:30-11:45
Venue: Room "PWC", Building "Chydenia", Runeberginkatu 22-24, 00100 Helsinki
Theme: TTIP, CETA and other trade agreements creating jobs and growth in Europe
Trade policy is one of the key EU policies and negotiations on free trade agreements are one of the ten priorities of the Juncker Commission. A strong EU position on the global market forms the basis for economic growth, jobs and innovation in Europe. Trade policy has implications that touch upon us all.
The Citizens' Dialogue is structured in two parts with a keynote speech by Commissioner Malmström followed by discussion. The first part is centred around the new trade and investment strategy for the EU ("Trade for All") and its impact on EU trade policy. The second part deals with major free trade agreements, namely the free trade agreement with Canada (CETA - EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership under negotiation with the United States (TTIP).
The speakers will take questions from the floor. You can also follow and join the discussion on Twitter by using #EUdialogues. The discussion is moderated by Elina Ravantti, Head of Unit for Foreign Affairs at the Finnish public service broadcaster YLE.
Discussions will be held in English. The event is open to the public and free of charge. The event is organised by the Aalto University School of Business in association with the European Commission Representation in Finland.
