Responsible Organising (RO) comprises research on how different actors organise for transformative action towards sustainable outcomes, as expressed in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes the organising of firms and other organisations, supply chains, networks and markets.
All 17 SDGs are actively addressed, with emphasis on research topics on (1) social inequalities (SDGs 5 and 10), (2) responsible production and consumption (SDG 8 and 12), and (3) responsible partnerships (SDG 17). These topics are divided into three research clusters (A) organising around CSR and sustainability; (B) organising around gender, intersectionality, and inequalities, and (C) perspectives on organising where both social responsibility and inequalities are present.
RO directly addresses the strategic mission of Hanken in “integrating social responsibility and sustainability in all activities”, manifesting “co-operation between Hanken’s competence centres on projects with social impact” (Hanken research strategy), as it focuses on research at the intersection of three research institutes that cut across Hanken’s subject area boundaries: CCR, GODESS and HUMLOG.
