Kaj's research focuses on market and business model innovation, strategic account management and solution business transformation. He has previously been a professor at the University of Auckland Business School and Nyenrode Business Universiteit in the Netherlands.
Kaj has made a career out of working on the borderline between academic and applied research within marketing and strategic management. He has over 35 years’ experience as a strategy consultant to European and global companies in finance, media, travel, retail, utility, manufacturing and telecommunications. In 1994, he founded Vectia Ltd., a management consultancy focusing on customer centric strategy, solution business development and customer experience management. He sold this company in 2012.
He has a long background in executive education, running MBA and executive MBA courses in Finland, Sweden, New Zealand, , Singapore and China. He is a frequent speaker at internal seminars for major global corporations, and at leading management development institutions in Europe, Asia and the US.
He has published more that 50 academic articles in leading international journals. He has also published 13 managerial books, out of which two have been voted best business books in Finland.
