Oscar Schalin's master's thesis awarded

The Finnish foundation Suomen arvopaperimarkkinoiden edistämissäätiö granted Oscar Schalin an award for his master’s thesis Den förbjudna frukten – En syndfull jakt på alfa (appr. The forbidden fruit - A sinful hunt for alpha)

The thesis examines whether investing in so-called sin stocks (e.g. tobacco, alcohol and gambling industry) can achieve a return that exceeds what could have been expected based on the risk characteristics of the stock, a so-called alpha. The topic and results have interesting implications for the financial sector.
The thesis received the grade very good (4/5).
