Hanken alum Axel Anderson was awarded the Hugo Fredriksson Memorial Award of 1,700 euros at the Alumni celebration on 3 October 2025. The award is presented annually to a newly graduated Hanken student who has shown excellent academic performance and active engagement for the School.

Axel Anderson excelled in his studies, graduating with a GPA of 4.3, and receiving a four for his thesis on a scale from one to five.
For Anderson studying at Hanken was a time filled with unforgettable moments and he really values the sense of community at the School.

“It is an incredible honour to receive such a prestigious award. I am truly happy and grateful to be recognised in this way! A big thank you to Hanken, the student union, and above all to all the amazing fellow students who made my time at Hanken so rewarding, fun, and memorable!”

The jury also emphasised that Anderson has been very active and committed both within the student union and at Hanken, making the students’ voices heard in the university’s decision-making. With his positive attitude and through his actions, he has made a valuable contribution to Hanken and supported the university’s continued development.

Hugo Fredriksson graduated from Hanken in 1925 and received a scholarship during his studies. To show his gratitude, he donated funds for an annual award to a distinguished and active graduate from Hanken.
