David Wunder

I work as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Management and Organisation at Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland. I am currently part of the research project "Navigating the green maze: Understanding the challenges and implications of sustainability-related green entrepreneurial acquisitions", funded by the Marcus Wallenberg Foundation. I completed my doctorate at Aalto University School of Science in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management and was a visiting scholar at SCANCOR, Stanford University. Before entering academia, I worked with startups and growth companies at the German-Finnish Chamber of Commerce.

My research interests lie in strategy, innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. I study the interplay between technology ventures and actors such as investors and established corporations. My work examines how these relationships form and what they mean for outcomes such as innovation, growth, internationalization, and sustainability. Methodologically, I work with large-scale datasets and econometric methods, with an emphasis on causal identification.

My research has been published in Research Policy, and my doctoral dissertation received the Heizer Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Academy of Management's Entrepreneurship Division, the Doctoral Dissertation Prize from the OP Group Research Foundation, and the Aalto University Doctoral Thesis Award. My research on corporate venture capital and green technology startups also received a Best Research Translation award. I review regularly for journals including the Journal of Business Venturing, Research Policy, and Organizational Research Methods, and have twice received the Best Reviewer Award from the Academy of Management's Entrepreneurship Division.

I currently teach the Master's-level course Strategic Thinking at Hanken, and I supervise Master's theses on topics related to strategy, sustainability, technology entrepreneurship, and venture financing.
