The Vaasa Science and Arts Carnival is a multilingual event aimed at everyone interested in science and research. The event takes place on 7–8 November 2025 and features discussions, interviews, lectures, and presentations.

Hanken is participating with an interview about the cooperation between Sweden and Finland following our NATO membership, as well as a presentation on the so-called FII Index.
During the carnival, visitors can also learn more about topics such as the Great Fire of Turku, AI and robotics, Russian hybrid and drone attacks, and the future of Gigavasa.
This year, the Science Carnival will be held at three different venues: Rewell Shopping Centre (Fri and Sat), Drama Hall at Vaasa City Library (Fri), and Mirror Hall at Vaasa City Hall (Sat).

Participants from Hanken:

• Assistant Professor Eva-Lena Lundgren-Henriksson will be interviewed about her current research at Rewell Shopping Centre on Friday 7 November at 14:40.
The histories of Finland and Sweden are also relevant in the NATO discussion. Eva-Lena Lundgren-Henriksson at Hanken is leading a research project that examines how the two countries are portrayed in public and social media. The project also maps how NATO membership is shaping cooperation between Sweden and Finland, with a focus on the defense industry.

• Assistant Professor Arafat Rahman will present the FII-index in the Mirror Hall at City Hall on Saturday 8 November at 11:50.
Firm innovativeness is often viewed from the firm's perspective. However, the Finnish Innovation Index (FII), developed at Hanken's Department of Marketing, focuses on the customer perspective of innovation. Arafat Rahman from Hanken will explore the key factors that customers consider essential for a company to be seen as innovative, and how these factors play out in industries like media streaming and fast food.
