Hanna-Riitta Harilainen’s thesis on the topic international trade awarded

Harilainen received a scholarship from the Fund for Promoting Finnish International Trade (SUE) for her doctoral thesis on 25 May 2015.

Hanken PhD Hanna-Riitta Harilainen has on 25 May 2015 received a scholarship from the Fund for Promoting Finnish International Trade (SUE) for her doctoral thesis in supply chain management and social responsibility. Her thesis bears the title ”Managing Supplier Sustainability Risk”.

The aim of the scholarship is to award a doctoral thesis that meets the purpose of the fund, i.e. to promote, support and develop Finnish foreign trade and the prerequisites of Finnish companies internationally.

The motivation to choosing Harilainen’s thesis is that it deals with managing risk in supply chains, especially regarding environmental and social risks in international supply chains. The topic has concrete practical relevance for a number of companies with international operations. Harilainen studies how image risks and operational supply chain risks are considered and managed by company decision makers.

The scholarship will be awarded every two years. This was the first time for it to be awarded.
