Hanken participates in Helsinki Design Week

Helsinki Design Week is the largest design and architecture festival in the Nordic countries and takes place 8-17.9.2023. The programme offers over 100 events and for the first time Hanken's main building is also part of the festival.

The building at Arkadiankatu 22 has an interesting history also from a design perspective. It was designed by architect Kurt Simberg and built in the early 1950s. Olof Ottelin was commissioned to do the interior design. The textiles were created by Dora Ljung, the lamps by Lisa Johansson-Pape and the colour scheme of the building by Yki Nummi.

The building was constructed almost entirely through donations and a major donation from Denmark was intended for a set of furniture by Hans Wegner.

During Helsinki Design Week, guided tours of the main building are organised  11.9, 12.9, 13.9 at 18.00.These tours are intended for external people who are interested in coming to see our building.

We will organise a separate tour for staff and students after Helsinki Design Week  on 21.9.2023 at 16. You can register for the staff and student tour here Opens in new window .
