As a student of General Management you will take your management skills to the next level, whether your background is in business, engineering, or law. You will build a sound basis in the essentials of business and management, while also taking things one step further: we encourage you to combine theories and conceptual tools in innovative ways across the borders of traditional disciplines in order to develop your managerial skills and acquire a broad experience in business.

The general outline of the degree is a foundation of common courses during the first year, whereas the second year is made up of studies within the chosen major.

The specialisation offers five different majors. You can choose between:

General Management has been developed as an answer to the demand from the industrial sector in the Vaasa region. We benefit from our close ties to industry, especially the growing energy business in the Vaasa region. In general terms, the major will:

Examples of major specific courses (at least 24 ECTS). Note that the majors Accounting and Commercial Law, as well as Marketing and Management & Organisation, have a tight cooperation. Thus, students will be taking courses from both majors within their studies, but will write their thesis within only one of the majors.
