Orientation Days 2021

Welcome to Hanken! Here you'll find information about the Orientation Days and the detailed programme.

Date:  25-27 August 2021

LOCATION: Hanken in Helsinki, Hanken in Vaasa and Online (more info below)

Target groups: 

  • Master's degree students in Helsinki (both for studies in English and Swedish)
  • Master's degree students in Vaasa (both for studies in English and Swedish)

Note! The Orientation Days are not intended for students who have already done their Bachelor's degree at Hanken and now start their Master's degree studies.
 

Please bring your educational documents in ORIGINAL on Wednesday 25.8

  • The documents will be collected in the beginning of the day for verification purposes and returned to you on Thursday at the Registration session.
  • During the Orientation Days we will provide you with the tools and knowledge to kick-start your studies.The Orientation days are a compulsory component of your studies
     
  • The days are offered both on site and online (see below for more info). You can only attend the days on site at the study location you will study. e.g. if you were granted admission in Vaasa, you need to attend the Orientation Days in Vaasa and vice versa.
     

During the Orientation days you will

  • enrol officially at the university
  • learn about your studies, study practicalities and what is expected of you as a student at Hanken
  • have specialisation-specific info sessions about the specialisation with the specialisation staff and current students
  • register for courses in the study tool Weboodi and make your study plan
  • get to know the study environment
  • get to network with both new and old students

 

Programme

WEDNESDAY 25.8: All sessions are offered both on site at Hanken (in Helsinki and in Vaasa) and online. However, the tour of Hanken is only offered physically at Hanken (Helsinki and Vaasa).

THURSDAY 26.8: All sessions are offered both on site at Hanken (in Helsinki and in Vaasa) and online, except for the Registration which only physically take place at Hanken (Helsinki and Vaasa).

  • If you cannot attend the registration on site, you will have to book an personal time slot to officically register at the university and have your original degree certificate and transcript of records verified. Book your appointment at Microsoft Booking as soon as possible (the link will be published here in August).

FRIDAY 27.8:  All sessions are offered online. Please attend the day from the comfort of your home.

Note! Below is a preliminary outline of the programme and Hanken reserves the right to make changes to the programme if necessary.

*All Finnish nationals need to fulfill the requirement of sufficient Swedish language skills within their degree studies in Finland.

You can only attend the  Orientation Days on site if you have no symtoms indicating that you might have COVID-19.

  • For students arriving from abroad, please note that the Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare (THL) constantly updated the Finnish COVID-19 travel restrictions when arriving in Finland (there can be  quarantine, health inspections, isolation upon arrival etc depending on the situation) based on the COVID-19 situation globally. Hence, international students arriving in Finland should make travel arrangements which ensure that you arrive well in advance (pereferably 2 weeks before the Orientation Daystaking into consideration the lastest travel restrictions set by THL.
  • Hanken can require on site participants to wear face masks during the Orientation Days depending on the national recommendations at the time of the Orientation Days. More info will be published later on.
  • The links for the online sessions will be published above in the programme outline for each day in August.
  • Hanken School of Economics uses Microsoft Teams for meetings and lectures.
  • We recommend that you download Microsoft Teams app to your computer and phone if possible.

The Student Union of Hanken School of Economics (SHS) Masters' Committee welcomes you by offering social programme during the orientation days. You will also meet the Masters' Committee - your tutors - during the first orientation day at Hanken. Please join the Facebook group "Hanken Helsinki Masters 2021/2022". Information about the Masters' Committee’s events during the Orientations Days and later during the academic year will be posted in this group closer to the orientation days.

Your tutors at the The Student Association of Hanken School of Economics in Vaasa (SSHV r.f.) welcome you to Hanken by offering social programme during the orientation days. You will also meet the master's level tutors at Hanken during the first orientation day.
