MASTER'S DEGREE STUDENTS
All Master's Degree students must register as present or absent for the spring term of the academic year 2014-2015 at the latest by Thursday 15 January at 16:15. If you wish to take part in an exam or if you want to apply for your diploma after 1 January, which is the official starting date of the new academic term, you must be enrolled as present. We suggest that you enrol for both the autumn and spring term already in August. If you are hesitant of whether you will be able to study during the academic year, we suggest that you register as absent. A registration as absent can be changed to a registration as present at any time during the year, whereas a registration as present cannot later be withdrawn.
NB! Students studying abroad within Hanken's exchange programme must be registered as present at Hanken during the exchange study period. Note that you should update your password for your Hanken user ID before you go abroad so the password won't expire while you are away.
Students who do not register as present or absent within the set time will be dropped from the student register. If this happens and you wish to re-activate your student status, you must submit a separate application for re-matriculation and pay a fee of EUR 35. If you neglect to register as present or absent and your study time is limited by law you will consume your study time even while not registered.
To register as present
You can register as present electronically through WebOodi if you have access to the Internet service of one of the following banks: Aktia, Sampo or Nordea. Logon to WebOodi and choose "Registration". You should pay the student union fee while you are logged on to WebOodi. The system will let you know what to do and when you've paid the fee and complete the registration you will automatically be registered as present. After you have registered as present through WebOodi you can pick up the sticker for the student card from the Service Point in Helsinki or the Office of Study Affairs in Vaasa.
If you have registered as absent for the spring term or if you do not register through WebOodi, you should pay the student union fee as a regular payment through your bank and show a receipt of the payment at the Service Point in Helsinki or the Office of Study Affairs in Vaasa. The receipt must contain an archive ID number. Please remember that you are not registered as present until you have showed us the receipt and we have manually registered you, if the above-mentioned applies to you.
Please note that you, yourself, must keep your contact information (address and phone number) up-to-date in WebOodi.
To register as absent
You can register as absent through WebOodi or by sending an email to studyinfo(at)hanken.fi (write Registration in the subject field of the message. The message must contain your full name and student number). If you register as absent you do not have to pay the Student Union fee, but cannot take part in any exams, have any results registered or apply for your degree diploma. If you are registered as absent you can however pay the student union fee and register as present at any time during the semester by showing the receipt at the Service Point in Helsinki or the Office of Study Affairs in Vaasa.
DOCTORAL STUDENTS
All doctoral students had to be registered as present or absent by 1st of September 2014 at 16.15.
Doctoral students who wish to register as present for the academic year 2014-2015 have to get their Study Plan (found in the registration form) approved by their degree supervisor.
Doctoral students who wish to register as absent do not have to get their Study Plan approved by the degree supervisor.
