Her research examines whether and how CSR and sustainability initiatives create business value, such as, what factors influence the potential impact of CSR on customer loyalty and firm innovation capabilities, and to what extent does CSR protect a firm in the face of a crisis.

At Hanken, Prof. Du is starting a new project examining how companies should revise their corporate social responsibility strategies and programs to address the unique challenges in the age of artificial intelligence.

This research will examine how consumer expectations of and reactions to AI-related corporate responsibility differ between U.S. and Finnish consumers.  It will investigate the effectiveness of different CSR actions in response to various ethical issues of AI, such as consumer privacy, cyber security, product fairness, ethical design, and so on.

“Finland is such a beautiful and unique country. I am really excited to be here and look forward to collaborating with my Hanken colleagues on research projects and interacting with Hanken students”, says Du.

The agreement between Hanken and the Fulbright Center provides prominent American scholars the opportunity to spend a period at Hanken. During their visit, the scholar will lecture or conduct research and contribute in disseminating Hanken’s research and knowledge within the business community and society.

Fulbright Center is a service organisation that specialises in academic exchange between Finland and North America. The main goal is to support the internationalisation of Finnish universities and research.

There will be a breakfast seminar at Hanken on 11 December with Fulbright Professor Shuili Du. Read more here.
