New professors at Hanken
David Grant is Professor of Supply Chain Management and Social Responsibility.
Grant has been partly working for Hanken since 2015, but is now working full time at the School. Previously, he was Professor of Logistics at Hull University Business School in England and his senior administrative roles include research institute directorship and associate deanship. Grant’s visiting appointments have included Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá; École Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur, Paris; Aix-Marseille Université, Aix-en-Provence; and Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Vienna. Grant has considerable experience writing and leading funded research and in supervising and examining PhD students.
-I’m delighted to be increasing my presence at Hanken to full-time. I really like the academic environment and people here, and the positive outlook the School has regarding its teaching, service and outreach to the wider community. I’ve been coming to Finland for over 15 years for academic visits and the countryside, geography and topography reminds me very much of the part of Northern Ontario in Canada where I grew up, Grant comments.
Grant’s research interests include logistics customer service, retail logistics, humanitarian logistics and social responsibility. He has over 240 publications in various refereed journals, books and conference proceedings and is on the editorial board of many international journals.
Ari Hyytinen has been appointed Professor of Economics. Previously he has worked as Professor of Economics at School of Business and Economics of the University of Jyväskylä (2007-2018), where he also served as the Vice Dean responsible for research. He has also been Research Director for the Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation.
-I am very happy about my new position here at Hanken. I think that faculty conducting high-quality scientific research is a key for long-term competitive advantage of academic institutions in general and business schools in particular. I am excited to be a part of an academic community where research provides a foundation for the other key activities, such as education and collaboration with the private and public sector, states Hyytinen.
He has a Doctor of Science degree from Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration. His research interests are industrial economics, corporate and small business finance, and banking. He has a vast publishing record in e.g. Journal of Public Economics, Economic Journal, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy and Rand Journal of Economics.
Petra Sund-Norrgård has been appointed Professor in Commercial Law. She previously worked as a university lecturer at the Vaasa unit of University of Helsinki and as an
Academy of Finland post-doc researcher.
-I appreciate Hanken as a workplace for a number of reasons: It’s small and dynamic, which means that – to some degree – there is freedom to do the work in accordance with one’s own wishes. This is something that I value. I also enjoy teaching at Hanken: the students are fearless and doing well, and are actually more interested in law than I anticipated, concludes Sund-Norrgård.
Sund-Norrgård has an LL.D. in Commercial Law from University of Helsinki. Her expertise lies in contract law and her monographs and articles have been published in various law journals e.g. Wolters Kluwer IEL-series, Tidskrift utgiven av Juridiska föreningen i Finland, Tidsskrift for Rettsvitenskap and Suomalaisen lakimiesyhdistyksen vuosikirja.
