Research projects received funding

Hanken researchers Ville-Pekka Sorsa (Helsinki) and Peter Björk (Vaasa) received funding for their research projects.

Assistant professor Ville-Pekka Sorsa was granted 100 000 euro from the Finnish Cultural Foundation for his research project Knowledge regimes and expert power in Finland.

The one-year project studies how the production of policy ideas and policy-relevant knowledge is organized, and what role experts play in decision-making. The project case studies focus on Finnish income, pension and innovation policy.
-    Nowadays many are calling for better integration between research and policy-making, but few provide ideas on how that could be organized. Our case studies provide valuable insight for that debate, says Ville-Pekka Sorsa, the Principal Investigator of the project.

Hanken in Vaasa is cooperating with four other partners in the Vaasa region and in Sweden in the development- and research project Destination Kvarken. The aim of the three-year project is to increase the visibility and attract more tourists to the Kvarken region. The project has received EU-funding from Interreg Botnia-Atlantica with a budget totaling 1,67 MEUR.

-    The project will enhance cooperation between SMEs in order to be able to offer unique packages for visitors in our particular part of the world, says project manager Marianne Sjöström.

The project will promote growth not just by internationalisation, but also by focusing on digitalization, research and development.
-Hanken is involved in this project by studying service development, innovations and design, and presenting digital solutions that supports a sustainable destination development, comments Peter Björk, Professor in Marketing and representing Hanken in the project.
