New national online study module in business

Ten Finnish universities have joined forces to deliver an online study module in business management skills for non-business students.

The studies cover different aspects of business operations, develops working skills and supports entrepreneurship. The courses are delivered online at www.lito.fi and the module started on 2 October. This first year constitutes a pilot phase and the number of students has been limited to 30 per university.

Hanken is responsible for delivering a course on CSR. The course team at Hanken consists of Yewondwossen Tesfaye, Nikodemus Solitander, Eija Meriläinen and Mikaela Krohn. Introduction to CSR starts on 1 November.

-Through this project we will gain a lot of valuable information about delivering bigger online courses. This year we have 300 participants but next year the number can be a lot higher, says Susanna Taimitarha, coordinator for the project at Hanken.

This online study module consists of eight courses of 5ECTS each. The students can pick and combine courses freely to suit their study profile.

“This is a unique collaboration among universities in Finland”, says Taina Eriksson, Project Manager for the programme at the Universiy of Turku. “Every higher education institution in Finland offering master’s programmes in business is part of this collaboration and delivers different parts of the module.”

The project is coordinated by the University of Turku and funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
