Hanken renews admissions criteria for BSc programme

Hanken renews the admission to the BSc programme in 2018 and is the first Finnish university to admit students based on the Swedish national university aptitude test (Swe. Högskoleprovet).

The share of students admitted on the results in their matriculation examination will also increase.

Hanken seeks to attract Swedish applicants by creating a quota for admission through Högskoleprovet. Hanken will admit a maximum of 15 students based on Högskoleprovet. The admissions criteria for this quota is a minimum score of 1.5 (out of max. 2) in Högskoleprovet, a non-Finnish secondary education degree and that the applicant fulfills Hanken’s language requirements in Swedish.

“We should be a natural choice for any Nordic applicant, since we offer our BSc in Swedish in two of the most dynamic cities in Finland, Helsinki and Vaasa. We look forward to informing high school students about this possibility and hope they’ll be interested”, says Minna Martikainen, Dean of Education.

Hanken also renews the admission process to the BSc programme and increases the number of admitted BSc students to 300 in 2018. This means that the School joins the national admission to economic sciences (Kauppatieteiden yhetisvalinta) in Finland and admits an increased number of applicants based on the results in the matriculation examination. Applicants admitted based on their matriculation examination will receive their admissions letter as soon as the results from the examination are in.

The entrance exam will henceforth be based on course material from upper secondary school and by taking the entrance exam the applicant will be able to apply for all economic science programme in Finland.

More information about the admission 2018 will be published on Hanken’s website in September 2017.
