Current Topics for The Academic Year 2017-2018
As of fall 2017, the course registration generally ends one week before the beginning of the teaching period. However, for courses in period 1, the registration ends on Sunday 3 September at 23.59 pm.
Please remember to register as present or absent for the Academic Year 2017-2018 in WebOodi at the latest 31August 2017.
A first-year student may register as absent for the first academic year for the following reasons only: military service (including Non-Military Service or Women's Voluntary Military Service); maternity, paternity or parental leave; or if you cannot begin your studies due to being incapacitated by personal illness or injury.
Please note that you need to be registered as present during your exchange semester.
When you have paid the student union membership fee, you can get the yearly sticker for your student ID card in Skogen, located in the basement of the main building in Helsinki. Opening hours in August and September: Monday to Friday 10 – 12 and 13 – 15. Contact details: gensek(a)shs.fi.
In Vaasa the stickers are available from the Office of Study Affairs.
As of August 2017, students are no longer granted housing supplement but can instead apply for general housing allowance.
As of 2018, Kela will handle all matters related to student financial aid and it will no longer be possible to get counselling at Hanken. Students are recommended to use Kela’s online eServices, http://www.kela.fi/web/en.
The ServicePoint and IT Support are now called Student Helpdesk. The opening hours have changed and are now Monday to Thursday 10 – 13.
”Inskriptionen”, the solemn opening of the Academic year, will take place on 1 September at 1 p.m. in Helsinki and on 4 September at 1 p.m. in Vaasa.

When you have completed all courses, please apply for your degree certificate. The degree will not be issued automatically!
If you are planning to graduate 22 September, you need to apply for your degree certificate at the latest 31 August.
