Library’s services during the shutdown

Read more about how the library's services for students and staff are maintained during the shutdown.

The library is closed during the period when Hanken’s staff and students work and study from home. The following details how this affects library’s services:

Limited book pickup service until 14.8.2020

On May 14th, the library will open a pick-up spot by Hanken's main entrance for books that are ordered in advance.

To place an order

From the pick-up point you can fetch books that you have ordered in advance via library@hanken.fi. In your e-mail, clarify each book's title, author(s), edition, and publication year, and add the link to the book's entry in Hanna. Write "Book loan" in the email subject line.

About the pick-up service

If you place an order before 14 o’clock, you can pick up the book(s) on the next weekday from the pick-up point during the opening hours Mon.-Fri. 13:00-16:00 (1-30.6 and 1-14.8). In July the opening hours are Tuesday AND Thursday 13:00-16:00.

We will agree by e-mail with the exact time of each pick-up. Orders will not be sent by post.

Prepare to show your ID. At the pick-up point, no service is provided other than picking up the ordered books.

Renew your loans in Hanna. In case of problems contact us by e-mail. Any overdue fees incurred during the shutdown will be rectified later (no need to be paid).

Electronic resources

You can use electronic resources – e-books, articles, and other e-materials. Search e-books in Hanna or in the e-book platforms. See instructions at E-books at Hanken. Search articles in Hanna or in the databases' own interface. See instructions for finding material in Subject guides in LibGuides. You can also search for articles in Google Scholar, but first activate the library’s link and log in to Hanna to access licensed materials.

Teachers will be assisted in replacing printed books with digital materials.

Several publishers and suppliers have opened their collections of e-journals and ebooks free of charge during the current corona pandemic. We are constantly updating this list.


Quantum has restricted access during 18.5.-31.7. Instructions on how to get in the data lab and how to use it is found here.

Databases such as EIKON and Factset have remote access. If you need access to these and other databases, please contact library@hanken.fi. A list, including links, to the databases with financial and company information is available here.

If you have need of using financial databases in July, then contact the library (library@hanken.fi) before the end of June! The remote access service returns 21st of July 2020.

Interlibrary loans

Interlibrary loans are provided to a very limited extent. We only order articles that can be obtained and passed on in an electronic form. Access to interlibrary loans is also limited by any closure in other university libraries. Place your order and we will inform you whether it can be dispatched.

All questions about the library’s service are addressed to library@hanken.fi. The chat in Hanna is open weekdays at. 10-14. Questions related to Haris are addressed as usual to haris@hanken.fi.

For Hanken's library in Vaasa:

  • Vaasa City Library will have restricted opening hours starting 1st of June 2020.
  • Tritonia will open with limited service 1.6. 2020.
