The aim of the Finnish universities is to streamline certificate-based admission and to ensure that the study opportunities are not unnecessarily restricted by subject choices made at general upper secondary level. This would ease the pressures experienced by general upper secondary students. About half of all new university students are admitted on the basis of their certificates.

Hanken’s Bachelor degree in Swedish in Vaasa has attracted a record number of applicants this year. In the joint application in spring 2023, a total of 739 applications was submitted to Hanken in Vaasa.

Hanken has launched a new MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) about how to respond to health emergencies such as COVID-19. On the course, you can learn about COVID-data and models, crisis governance during pandemics, medical supply chains, and how misinformation on social media can be combated.
Henrik Helenius får Anders Walls stipendium 2023

Hanken student Henrik Helenius has been awarded the Anders Wall scholarship of approximately 20,000 euros for having excelled in entrepreneurship and creative thinking. The scholarship was presented on 10 March 2023 at the Anders Wall Foundation's scholarship award ceremony in Stockholm. Helenius is one of the founders of Droppe, a marketplace that sells supplies to industrial companies.

PhD Johanna Gummerus has been appointed as the new Professor of Marketing at Hanken School of Economics. Professor Gummerus has a long and warm relationship with Hanken. She graduated from the university in 2011 and enjoys it so much that she has worked here ever since.
