Projects within the Finnish Department

In Finnish, both teaching materials and methods are being actively developed. The Finnish department engages in research and projects that are relevant from a societal perspective and that support the professional expertise of teachers. Below you can read more about some of the current projects within the Finnish department.

More general information can be found on the general pages of the Language Centre, both on the main page and the research page.

FOP Finnish Teachers' Network

FOP is a collaborative network and a Finnish teachers project for Finnish teachers at Swedish-speaking colleges and universities to develop teaching and reach a common vision of the requirements and assessment criteria in Finnish education in the country.

The project was launched in autumn 2016 with a training day for Finnish teachers at the Police University College in Tampere on the 7th of October 2016. The name FOP was coined in connection with this first training day, Finskan opettajien päivä. The name is an offshoot of MOP, Maailman opettajien päivä, which is celebrated in the country on the 5th of October.

The network is led by Ulrika Rancken at Arcada together with Marit Nilsson-Väre from Hanken, with funding from the Swedish Cultural Foundation. So far, the Swedish Cultural Foundation has supported Finnish sector-specific training with a total of 40.000 euros.
