21217 Advanced Internship in Accounting I, 5 cr

Course Description: 

The course is a self-study course in which you write a report of your – for your major relevant – internship or paid work experience. You can choose to complete the internship course as either 5 credits or 10 credits. For 5 credits you need at least 8 work weeks of full time work and for 10 credits at least 16 work weeks (or part time work the equal amount to this). You can complete the internship in one or many parts and in one or many work places.

Master’s students can complete the internship course based on internship completed during their study time at Hanken or a maximum of three years prior to their admission to Hanken.

Please notice that you can complete a maximum of 10 credits of internship in your master’s degree. This means that you can complete only one of the 5 or 10 cr internship courses.

Learning Goal: 

You have work experience or experience as an entrepreneur that is useful in your studies and in your further career.

After completing the course, you will be able to: 
  • apply theoretical knowledge from your studies in work-life
  • perform professional tasks that are relevant to your major subject
International Learning Experience: 

You can complete the internship in Finland or abroad.

Target Group: 

Only major subject students in accounting on master's level.

Total Student Workload: 

134 hours divided into 
Scheduled (contact hours): 0 hours
Non-scheduled work: 134 hours

Instruction: 

Independent work 134 hours

Assessment: 

After you have finished the internship, you write an internship report defined by your major subject where you discuss among other things the work tasks and how they are connected to your studies and vice versa. For 5 credits the recommendation for the report is 5 pages or equivalent and for 10 credits 7 pages or equivalent. Attach a copy of your internship / work certificate (the original should be presented on request)

The report is graded pass or fail.

Recommended Time of Performance: 

In the summer between your first and second year of master studies.

 

Equivalent Courses: 

If you have completed the earlier internship course (8 credits) you cannot complete this course.
