On 11 May, Hanken faculty of Commercial Law had the pleasure to, via the China-EU cooperation programme IP Key, welcome the Chinese Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (SCNPC). Unfair competition and intellectual property law in Europe were discussed and we got to hear several interesting talks on these topics. The visit was initiated via contacts created through the year 2015 finalized TranSIP project.

public.jpgA meeting between the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (SCNPC) from China and Hanken faculty of Commercial Law took place at Hanken on 11 May. The meeting was part of SCNPC:s study visit to the EU, which is hosted by the China-EU cooperation programme IP Key.

The aim of this round table discussion was to explore the concept of unfair competition and intellectual property law in Europe and discuss how this may affect Chinese norm development. China has recently published its draft proposal on anti-unfair competition regulation and, even if International and EU norms recognize the need to promote fairness in competition and business practices, this concept is not clearly defined in the law nor harmonized.
