Facilitating peer to peer learning among board members - The Finnish and European experience
Are You Looking for the Next Step in Your Career? Do You Plan to become a Board Member? Do You want to Learn from the Best?
The board carries the ultimate responsibility for the business of a company. However, for someone who has been elected to a board it is not always easy to know all the aspects of this responsibility or to understand the different ways in which a board member can contribute to the success of a company As the expectations on boards have grown, the need for board members to learn from each other and from specialists has grown considerably. To enable learning and networking in this field, associations for board members have been established across the world. In Finland, good board practice is developed within the Directors’ Institute Finland (DIF), in the United Kingdom by the Insitute of Directors (IoD), and at a European level by European Confederation of Directors’ Associations ecoDa.
In his presentation Philip Aminoff, Chairman of DIF, Fellow of the IoD, and Member of the policy committee of ecoDa, will be presenting the three organisations and their activities.
