Transferring credits

A maximum of 60 transferred credits can be included in a Master's Degree at Hanken. Credits are transferred by application only. An official transcript of records and a description of the studies should be included in the application. Transferred credits are registered according to the date of the study performance.

Courses taken at other Finnish universities will be transferred with the number of credits and the original grade granted by the other university. Other courses will be registered as "passed" or in some cases according to the grade stated on the decision of transferring the credits.

You can transfer studies that are equivalent to a course at Hanken or studies that are within a subject that is taught at Hanken even if there is no equivalent course at Hanken. It is also possible to transfer studies from academic fields that are not offered at Hanken.

If the course you have taken at another university is equivalent to a course at Hanken the application for transferring credits is approved by the instructor of the course at Hanken that is equivalent to the course you have taken at the other university. Visit the instructor at his/her office hours and submit your application with an official transcript of records and a description of the course. When the instructor has approved your application, submit the application and enclosures to the Service Point in Helsinki or Office of Study Affairs in Vaasa. The course will appear on your transcript as if you had completed the course at Hanken (the name of the course and course code).

If the course you have taken at another university is not equivalent to a course at Hanken but within a subject at Hanken the application for transferring credits is approved by a professor in that subject at Hanken or by a language teacher if it is a language taught at Hanken. Visit the professor or language teacher at his/her office hours and submit your application with an official transcript of records and a description of the course. When the professor or language teacher has approved your application, submit the application and enclosures to the Service Point in Helsinki or Office of Study Affairs in Vaasa. The course will be listed as a transferred course under the subject on your transcript.

If the course you have taken is not equivalent to any course at Hanken and not within any subject taught at Hanken you can apply for transferring it as elective studies. Submit your application form with an official transcript of records and a description of the course to the Service Point in Helsinki or Office of Study Affairs in Vaasa. Your application will be approved by the Office of Study Affairs.
