Credits completed at another university can be transferred to Hanken

Courses taken at other universities in Finland or abroad can be included in your degree at Hanken by transferring the credits. However, no more than 60 transferred credits can be included in a Master's Degree at Hanken.

How to apply for transferring of credits?

The transferring of credits is done by application only. An official transcript of records and a description of the studies should be included in the application. Transferred credits are registered according to the date of the study performance.

Course equivalent to a course at Hanken
If the course you have taken at another university is equivalent to a course at Hanken, please indicate on the application form which course at Hanken you would like to substitute with the course taken at another university. Then contact the examinator for the course at Hanken or an examinator for the particular subject and ask him/her to evaluate if the course can be replaced with the Hanken course. The examinator approves the application by signing it. Hand in both the signed application form and the transcript of records at the Service Point in Helsinki or at the Office of Study Affairs in Vaasa.

Course not equivalent to a course but to a subject at Hanken

If the course is not equivalent to a course at Hanken but can be transferred within a subject or language that can be studied at Hanken, please contact an examinator for that particular subject and ask him/her to evaluate if the course can be transferred within the subject. The examinator approves the application by signing it. Hand in both the signed application form and the transcript of records at the Service Point in Helsinki or at the Office of Study Affairs in Vaasa.

Course within a subject that cannot be studied at Hanken

Students who have taken courses at another university in a subject that cannot be studied at Hanken and wish these to be included in their Hanken degree submit an application form and an official transcript of records. It should be clear from the application whether the courses are to be included among the electives or counted as a minor subject. The application should be handed in at the Service Point in Helsinki or at the Office of Study Affairs in Vaasa.

What grade will the transferred credits have?

Courses taken at other universities in Finland will be transferred with the number of credits and the original grade granted by the other university. Courses taken abroad will be registered as "passed" or in some cases according to the grade stated on the decision of transferring the credits. The transferring of credits is done by application only. An official transcript of records and a description of the studies should be included in the application. Transferred credits are registered according to the date of the study performance.
