Master's Programme in IP Law - Current News

We have a spring term kick-off 15th of January at 15:00 in the teacher's room in Hanken. We hope to see all of you students in the programme there! You will have an update on the programme, you can give us important feedback and ask anything that you have in your mind.

First course in the spring term Economics and Management of IP starts already 14th of January at 10:00. Place is Chydenia building (Helsinki School of Economics, not Hanken!), room CG-109 (first floor). Contact Mikko Välimäki for details if you have any questions regarding this course.

Master's Degree Programme in Intellectual Property Law

The Programme

The Master's Degree Programme in Intellectual Property Law is a two-year (120 credits) full-time programme offered by Hanken School of Economics. The language of instruction is English.

The programme is administered by the Department of Law at Hanken and implemented in close co-operation with the IPR University Center, which is the leading academic intellectual property law institution in Finland. The department's expertise lies in the core areas of business law. Intellectual property law has been recognised as one of Hanken's four core competence areas. We conduct research of high international standard in all major fields of intellectual property law (patent, trademark, copyright). The courses are taught by our internationally renowned faculty members, in co-operation with professors from leading universities in the EU and the US and highly qualified practitioners.

The programme offers an international atmosphere of high academic standard and provides the students with life-long contact and career opportunities. Our close co-operation with the industry keeps us at the forefront of developments in IP law. The curriculum also includes courses in Marketing (Branding), Business Administration (Knowledge Management) and Finance (Evaluation of Intellectual Assets). In addition to compulsory courses, the programme leaves room for elective courses at various Universities in the Helsinki region. We help students build meaningful, individual programme structures to suit their future career goals.
