Settings for e-mail clients

You use an e-mail client like Thunderbird (recommended by the computer center, download at http://www.mozilla.org/products/) or Outlook on your own computer, to access the Hanken mail.

The settings you need to know, when setting up a new account in your e-mail client, are:

* protocol used: IMAP (NOT pop!)

* incoming Server: imap.hanken.fi

* Use "SSL" under "Use secure connection" (port changes from 143 to 993)

* Outgoing Server (SMTP):

one of the following, depending on where you are, who provides the internet connection:

• in Hanken
  • Helsinki: smtp.shh.fi
  • Vasa: pola.wasa.shh.fi

• Outside Hanken:
  • smtpauth.hanken.fi works also outside Hanken
  • or use your internetproviders smtp-server like (smtp.kolumbus.fi, smtp.nblnetworks.fi etc...)
