Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation: Deadline for applications 31 May 2013

Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation has announced a call for funding. Deadline for applications is 31 May 2013. The application is to be submitted both electronically and in paper form (duly signed). In addition to personal grants the Foundation can also support organisations hosting events such as conferences and seminars. Please contact research.director@hanken.fi if you are planning to apply for funding for arranging a conference/seminar. You can also be in touch if you have questions related to the personal grants.

Eino Jutikkala Fund: Scholarships for research, deadline for applications 31 May 2013

"Suomalainen Tiedeakatemia julistaa haettavaksi Eino Jutikkalan rahastosta humanistiselle tutkimukselle (sisältää yhteiskuntatieteet) seuraavia apurahoja.

- Väitöskirja-apurahoja yhden vuoden mittaiseen (23.000 euroa) kokopäiväiseen muusta ansiotyöstä vapaaseen työskentelyyn. Rahoituspäätöksissä suositaan liikkuvuutta ja tutkimustyötä ulkomailla. Hakemukseen voidaan liittää myös matka-apurahahakemus.

- Apurahoja tutkijoille tutkimustyöhön (3 viikkoa-vuosi) ensisijaisesti ulkomaisissa yliopistoissa ja tutkimuslaitoksissa. Rahoituspäätöksissä suositaan post doc -tutkijoita. Hakemukseen on liitettävä selvitys kokonaisrahoituksesta. Apuraha voidaan käyttää osaksi tai kokonaan matka-apurahana.

Vuosittaisia apurahoja voidaan jatkaa kolmeksi peräkkäiseksi vuodeksi. Tällöin tarvitaan selvitys tutkimuksen edistymisestä seuraavan vuoden hakemuksessa.

Erillisiä matka-apurahoja konferensseihin tai apurahoja julkaisu-, painatus- tai toimituskuluihin ei myönnetä. Konferenssien järjestämiseen apurahoja myönnetään rajoitetusti.

Apurahat on tarkoitettu tutkijoille, jotka edustavat Suomalaisen Tiedeakatemian humanistisen osaston tieteenaloja (sisältää yhteiskuntatieteet)."

Scholarships for research of the German language and culture, deadline for applications 31 May 2013

"Emil Öhmannin Säätiö julistaa haettavaksi apurahoja saksan kielen ja saksankielisen alueen kulttuurin tutkimukseen. Apurahoja annetaan henkilökohtaisiksi apurahoiksi, matka-apurahoiksi, tutkimusyhteistyöhön ja konferenssien järjestämiseen. Erityisesti suositaan useamman kuukauden mittaista ulkomailla tapahtuvaa tutkimustyötä. Ulkomailla tapahtuvaan työskentelyyn voidaan lisätä kohtuulliset matka- ja oleskelukustannukset."

AURORA has opened

AURORA, a new database on research funding, has opened. The comprehensive database contains information on finnish, nordic, european and international research funding, including information on when the calls are open for applications. The database is open to all and can be used free of charge. Only a Finnish version of the database is currently available; an English version is under construction.

EU-Canada Study Tour and Internship Programme 2013 - "Thinking Canada": deadline for applications 23 April 2013

"Thinking Canada" is an initiative of the European Network for Canadian Studies, funded generously by the European Commission - a four-week study tour to Canada for European students that will take place from 1 - 29 September 2013, followed for selected participants by two-month internships. It will commence with three days of briefings in Brussels on the EU and EU-Canada relations.

The Center for Chinese Studies Research Grant: Deadline for applications May 31st 2013

The Center for Chinese Studies in Taiwan is offering a research grant for foreign scholars in Chinese Studies.

The Center for Chinese Studies (CCS) has the following provisions for its research grant program:

-This program is aimed at foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors (including post-doctoral researchers) and doctoral candidates in Chinese studies-related departments at foreign universities, as well as researchers at related foreign academic institutes.

-The research should be undertaken in Taiwan, and be focused mainly on Taiwan or Chinese studies.

-CCS provides assistance with research expenses, research materials, liaison with universities and research institutions, and use of CCS facilities, etc.

-Research tenure is three months to one year.

-Applications should be submitted to CCS by May 31 of each year before the year in which grants are intended to be used; notification of CCS's decision will be given by the end of August of the same year after a careful review.

Daily Newspapers
