The deadline for applying for exchange studies during the autumn semester 2012 is approaching. Therefore we will organize three sessions about the Hanken exchange programme. The sessions are held in Swedish and you can find more information about them through this link. Exchange studies at respected university in the US

BVO (Brittingham Viking Organisation) provides a full year scholarship to the University of Winsconsin-Madison, a respected university in the United States. This substantial scholarship covers travel, tuition, accommodation and other reasonable living expenses. Every year one student from Finland is granted this scholarship. As a student at Hanken you can apply for this scholarship.

Hanken has new exchange agreements with prestigious universities in Asia and Europe

Hanken has signed 6 new exchange agreements with prestigious universities in Europe (within the Erasmus-programme) and Asia. You can apply for an exchange semester at these new partner universities no later than 23.1.2012 for autumn semester 2012 and no later than 15.6.2012 for spring semester 2013.
The Hanken exchange scheme now consists of 105 partner universities in 36 countries.

Application deadlines for exchange studies 2012-2013

The deadlines for applications for exchange studies during the academic year 2012-2013 are:

  • 23 January 2012 for the autumn semester 2012
  • 15 June 2012 for the spring semester 2013

To apply for exchange studies you have to fill in an online application form. Before you fill in your application please read the instructions. After you have completed the online application, you must print out the application form and hand it in before the application deadline to the Centre for research and international affairs in Helsinki or to Kristina Wallin in Vaasa.

Please also read the information regarding the requirements of the exchange programme.

You can find links to Hanken's partner universities in the list of Partner universities. In the table Info and criteria you will find summaries with relevant information e.g. regarding the level of the studies and the languages of instruction at these universities. Langauge of instruction indicates in which languages the universities offer courses for exchange students. In the field Level you can see whether the university offer courses on BSc level and/or MSc level. Some partner universities require a language test (TOEFL or IELTS) of all exchange students. You can find this information in the field Additional Requirements. The test should be taken before the application deadline, so please check the test dates and register in time! You can find more information about the tests under Language tests .

The decision about exchange studies spring semester 2012 has been published

Under the following link ( exchange studies spring 2012 [pdf] 139k) you will find the decision about exchange studies spring semester 2012. All students who have been allocated an exchange place will receive an e-mail with detailed instructions regarding how to accept the place of study. All students who have been granted an exchange place of study have to confirm the allocated exchange on Mobility-Online ( https://www.service4mobility.com/europe/LoginServlet) no later than August 30, 2011. As you accept the place of study your decision is binding.

After having accepted the exchange:

  • Hanken will nominate you to your host university.
  • You will be informed either by the International coordinator at Hanken or by your host university regarding how to register at your host university. In other words, Hanken or your host university will first contact you.
  • You will have to hand in application documents to your host university.
  • It is also important that you check the information for incoming exchange students at your host university's webpage. There you will find instructions concerning application, course choices, accommodation etc. Be aware of the deadlines to make sure that you don't miss out on your exchange studies.

Hanken will organize a workshop to help students prepare for their exchange studies abroad. It is mandatory to participate in the workshop. The date for the session is:
- Helsinki: October 11 at 14.30
-Vaasa: October 24 at 14.30

Please inform Beata Segercrantz (outgoing.mobility@hanken.fi) in case you don't want her to give your name to other student nominated to the same university as you. If you don't inform us about this, we will assume that we have your permission to give your name to other students going to the same host university as you.

Hanken has a new top ranked partner university in China

Hanken has a new exchange agreement with the top ranked School of Economics and Management Tsinghua University in Beijing. Tsinghua SEM is both EQUIS and AACSB accredited. You can apply for an exchange semester at Tsinghua SEM for spring semester 2012 no later than 15.6.2011.
Please note that a prerequisite for applying is successful studies at Hanken and that your grade point average is very good (grade point average is an average of all courses completed at Hanken and shown on your Hanken transcript). Studies at Tsinghua SEM have a quantitative approach.

Exchange semester autumn 2011

Hanken has now published the list [pdf] 2617kof students who have been nominated for an exchange semester autumn 2011.

All students who have been allocated an exchange place of study should log in to Mobility-Online ( https://www.service4mobility.com/europe/LoginServlet) in order to accept the allocated exchange no later than March 21, 2011. As you accept the place of study your decision is binding. After having accepted the exchange, Hanken will nominate you to your host university. Later on you will have to hand in application documents to your host university. You will be informed either by the International coordinator Beata Segercrantz at Hanken or by your host university regarding how to proceed. However, it is important that you check the information for incoming exchange students at your host university's webpage. There you will find instructions concerning application, course choices, accommodation etc. Be aware of the deadlines to make sure that you don't miss out on your exchange studies.

If you are on the list of nominated students but have not been allocated a university you don't have to log in to Mobility Online at this stage. Instead, please, contact the International Co-ordinator for outgoing students by March 22 or preferably as soon as possible, to book a personal meeting in order for you to choose suitable alternative amongst still available study places at our partner universities.

Hanken will introduce a compulsory study abroad period in the integrated Bachelor and Master programme

The Board at Hanken decided on 13 December 2007 that all students admitted to the integrated Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programme in 2009 taught in Swedish will have a compulsory study abroad period integrated in their studies either as a study abroad semester or as an international internship. Students who have commenced their studies at Hanken before 2009 and are interested in a study abroad period will also be able to take part in the exchange programme at Hanken in the future.
