Courses and study plans / English
Description of the study module
The overall objectives of the English department are to provide courses that help students acquire the English communicative skills they will need to pursue careers in the academic and the business world. The English introductory courses, therefore, aim to help students achieve operational proficiency within a business context (C1 Business). Subsequent courses address a variety of areas within a business or cultural context at the C1 or C2 level to help students towards proficiency, (the ability to work in English without any detriment or loss of the core business and academic skills they acquire at a business school such as Hanken).
English as a minor subject requires the completion of at least 25 credits. English language courses taken at institutions other than Hanken may be considered. Credits for an exchange period at an English-speaking university can be included in the minor subject (see course description).
The coordinator of the English Department is Martti Mäkinen (Helsinki).
