Lärandemål

Upon completion of the course the students will possess an in-depth knowledge of theories behind the connections between corporate financial decisions, corporate governance mechanisms and the value of the firm. Special focus areas are long-term capital structure and dividend policy decisions, as well as the effect of agency costs and asymmetric information on corporate financial policy.

Förkunskaper

Familiarity with Capital Budgeting is recommended. In particular, basic understanding of time value of money, risk and option concepts are assumed. These skills will be tested in a mandatory introductory exam in the beginning of the course.

Bedömning och examination

Written examination in three parts: 1) an introductory exam 7%, 2) exercises 8%, and 3) a final written exam 85%.

Students within the Corporate Governance Master's Degree Programme will acquire 6 ECTS for the course. by answering one question less in the final exam.
