Kursbeskrivning
The aim of this course is to introduce the doctoral research process to students. Doctoral students will learn to write, evaluate, present and publish academic papers and to write a doctoral thesis. The course is a joint course between the departments of Management & Organisation and Marketing. Students of all subjects at Hanken are welcome to take the course. Students from Vasa need to travel to Helsinki for at least part of the classes, including the introduction.

Förkunskaper
This course is compulsory for all doctoral students admitted to the doctoral programs in Marketing, Supply Chain Management and Corporate Geography, Management and Organisation, Entrepreneurship and Management, and Accounting.
Undervisningsformer
The course is divided into two parts: A and B. In part A, all students will be introduced to being a doctoral student and to writing an academic paper. Moreover, the aim is to get to know fellow students and faculty. In part B, all students will write and present an academic paper that is intended for publication, and review other students’ papers. You will also read a doctoral dissertation, attend the doctoral defence of it, write an assignment and discuss the defence in class.
Litteratur
Books and articles on the research process and on the publishing and review processes of academic papers, approximately 500 pages.
Bedömning och examination
To get the course credits, students have to complete and pass parts A and B of the course.

Ytterligare information
This is a joint course between Marketing and Management and Organisation. Apart from information about the introduction of the course, all course information will be transmitted through platform Moodle, under Marketing courses. All course participants need to 1) sign up for the course in WebOodi, and 2) sign into Moodle. It is important that you attend the introductory lecture!
