Mål

This course focuses on the analysis of strategic competition and it represents an advanced-level continuation of the course “Economics of Strategy”. The course will focus on topics like
- different modes of competition in the short run and in the long run
- price and non-price competition
- product differentiation
- strategies to create and maintain market power
- merger analysis
- competition with customer-specific pricing schemes
- the design of organizational structure to achieve external competitiveness
- information exchange between oligopoly firms
- evaluation of business practices from the point of view of competition law

Overall the course will cover topical issues related to strategic management in the presence of market imperfections and to competition policy. The course will present up-to-date applications of competition analysis and revenue management to several significant industries.
