Mål

This is an advanced level course and builds on the knowledge acquired in the earlier courses in finance. The objective of the course is to provide a deeper understanding of the main elements in modern financial theory by combining theoretical and practical approach. Starting from utility specifications, we analyse optimal portfolio/consumption choices under uncertainty, derive asset pricing models, and look more in depth into corporate finance theory, especially at the capital structure and financing decisions of the firm. The course consists of lectures and related exercises.

It is assumed that students are familiar with fundamental concepts in finance theory and have decent skills in matrix algebra.

Examination

There will be a written examination at the end of the course. The final grade will consist of exercises (20%) and the final examination (80%).
