Learning Philosophy & Hanken MBA
Each month MBA participants gather to a module where top class academics and practitioners lecture on the latest developments in the market and in research. Each module is planned together with an expert of the respective topic: marketing, finance, management and accounting. For the MBA participant this means that every module is planned and executed by professionals.
A central aim of the Hanken MBA Programme is to increase the learning experience through successive modules on allied topics. Hanken makes a serious effort in creating a unified program, where all modules form a consistent whole. The structure of the programme gives the participant a holistic and broad picture of different aspects of business life as well as in-depth knowledge of each specialisation alternative. Our goal is to give the participants a framework that they can really use in their professional lives.
An important part of the programme is that all knowledge is practically anchored. Through practical case examples and group discussions the participants gets insight in how the theory works in practice. During the programme the student also writes assignments in which he or she implements the knowledge derived from the lectures and the literature in his or her own business setting. This gives value both for the company and the participants.
At Hanken we find an interactive approach to be the best way of learning thus the modules are designed to be very interactive, characterised by open discussions and teamwork. This way the participants can reflect on the issues presented during the modules and really capture the essence of what is taught. Hence, the program is designed to be a learning process for the student. The participants are encouraged to participate actively throughout the process and to contribute with both their professional and personal input. Through discussions and working in groups participants can compare experiences and find new insights into covered topics.
Furthermore, the programme emphasizes the collective learning experience instead of the learning experience of only one individual. This facilitates the transfer of knowledge into an organization. The learning process gives true value for both the individual and the company the participant represents.
In addition to the modules the programme consists of Personal Skills development sessions. In these the participants get practical tools to use both personally and professionally. During the sessions the students do exercises in for instance presentation skills and different methods for learning and developing creativity in problem solving.
