Information Systems Science
Information Systems Science
The subject has four faculty positions. Our research is of high international class and is mainly carried out in extensive co-operation with other universities both in Finland and abroad. We have two focus areas: New forms of E-business and web collaboration (Open Source, Open Content, Open Access) and the use of IT in the construction and facility management sector. Our researchers have published widely in both areas. Professor Bo-Christer Björk is editor-chief of the peer reviewed journal Information Technology in Construction. We have also hosted important national and international conferences (FinnOA 2004, Elpub 2010).
Our students learn how to plan, procure and implement IT-systems as well as to understand how these are utilised both operationally and strategically in companies. Subject areas such as marketing, e-commerce, communication in virtual teams, IT-strategies, decision support systems are emphasized in our advanced level courses.
Our former students are well employed in both the IT industry (one alumni is high-ranking executive with Google in California) and in jobs related to IT in other industries.
