Activities of the HUMLOG Institute
Regular research seminars
The HUMLOG Institute thus organises regular research seminars and is a focal point for visiting researchers - as well as supervises a number of doctoral students from Hanken and the NDU. The Institute also participates in research education, arranging doctoral courses in supply chain management related to disaster relief and development aid, as well as to military logistics. Courses are also given on the masters level.
Research findings are disseminated via international journal publications; especially through dedicated special issues in top academic journals. The institute also participates in the organisation of dedicated conferences and conference tracks - such as the CCHLI conference, or tracks at the NOFOMA conference for Nordic logistics researchers, and the Logistics Research Network conference. HUMLOG practitioner seminars have been arranged since 2006 on a variety of topics: funding in humanitarian logistics, co-operation in the humanitarian supply chain, performance measurement in humanitarian logistics, and have also led to the establishment of tracks at practitioner conferences. Such seminars serve as a platform for humanitarian logisticians to meet not only among themselves, but with business and defence logisticians, as well as academics.
