Master's Degree Programme in International Management and Strategy
Helsinki
Description of the study module
The Master's Degree Programme in International Management and Strategy is a two-year (120 credits) full time programme offered by Hanken. Of the 120 credits, 90 are programme-bound, 24 are free electives, and 6 are in languages. The language of instruction is English. The programme includes one term at a foreign university/business school.
The programme is administered and implemented by the Department of Management and Organisation, which is a leading research institution in the area of International Management. It has been appointed a Centre of Excellence in university level teaching by the Finnish Ministry of Education for 2004-06 and again for 2007-09. In addition to its own highly qualified staff, the Department of Management and Organisation has a pool of foreign visiting professors who on a regular basis teach on its courses. Participants are thus guaranteed a Master's degree of high international quality.
The programme prepares participants for careers in international organisations, business organisations in particular. The focus of the programme is on business organisations with activities in a) the Nordic/Baltic region, and b) large emerging markets such as China, India, and Russia. The programme helps participants acquire the skills needed to function effectively in such organisations. It focuses on the identification and management of challenges stemming from a diversity of economic, social, geographic, institutional, cultural and linguistic contexts. Although the studies are management-oriented, they also aim to develop the students' academic skills.
