Hanken granted international AMBA accreditation
Hanken MBA, the MBA programme of Hanken - Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration - was granted the AMBA accreditation by the international Association of MBAs (AMBA). Thereby Hanken is the second business school in Finland that has been accredited by AMBA. This accreditation is considered the highest international accreditation for MBA programmes. The accreditation was granted for five years.
- During many years Hanken has steadily invested in developing the quality of the MBA programme. The accreditation is recognition that the course has been right. We will also in the future continue to invest in quality. The accreditation is of course valuable to Hanken as a whole, but especially benefits the participants of the MBA programme and the business community, says programme director Patrick Furu.
AMBA's International Accreditation Advisory Boards (IAAB), who decided to grant Hanken the accreditation, pointed out in its report for example the fact that Hanken has several faculty members who are world leading scholars in their fields. The report also concludes that Hanken has been able to develop "creative research environments".
- The fact that we have so many faculty members who are leading scholars internationally is unique, says Patrick Furu.
Hanken MBA was also credited for recruiting participants of a high standard. When assessing Hanken MBA, AMBA interviewed both present participants of the programme and members if the alumni.
During the last years international accreditations have become more and more important to business schools both in Finland and internationally. A prestigious accreditation is viewed as a sign that research, teaching and contacts with the business community are of a high international standard. Therefore accreditations are of great importance in the international cooperation between universities in research, international student exchange and recruitment of international students.
In addition to the AMBA-accreditation Hanken is EQUIS accredited by EFMD since 2000. In the Nordic countries only Hanken and two other business schools are EQUIS and AMBA accredited.
