The Research Centre for Financial Research (CEFIR) changed its name in connection to the donation from the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation. The centre is named Wallenberg Centre for Financial Research - WCEFIR. The change took place as Hanken is rounding off the campaign HANKEN 100.

"Wallenberg Centre for Financial Research supports research in Financial Economics by using its profit to grant funding and publication grants to research students. The centre also supports the procurement of financial data necessary for successful research in financial economics," says Director of WCEFIR, Professor Anders Löflund.

The Centre's main source of income consists of management training courses and other further education activities completed by teachers and researchers from the Department of Finance and Statistics at Hanken. The most important courses are the annual analyst training programmes CEFA/CIIA-, the Professional Finance Programme (Profin), and the long-term training collaboration with OP-Pohjola.

"The Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation has for many years supported internationally renowned research, and Hanken is very grateful that the Foundation chose to support us. It is an honour to rename CEFIR and, consequently, to emphasize the importance of this very generous donation, "states Rector Eva Liljeblom.

It is still possible to donate to the university. The fund Friends of Hanken was instituted this spring and consequently laid the foundation for continued engagement in annual donations or earmarked donations directed to specific purposes.
