Workshop on Language and Multilingualism in Management: Themes, Concepts and Methodologies

The interest in language and multilingualism in management is growing. There is now a sufficient body of research on the topic to talk about a nascent subfield of management studies. Many questions still remain to be answered, including but not limited to: How do language and multilingualism interact with strategy, organisational behaviour, or HRM? What are the consequences of multilingualism in a corporate context? It is also clear that the topic can be approached from many different theoretical and disciplinary backgrounds, and that the potential for cross-pollination between these is far from exhausted.

With this invitation-only workshop at Hanken School of Economics on June 11-12, 2009, we aim to provide a forum where scholars with an interest in language and multilingualism in management can present their work, familiarise themselves with the work of others, and enter into dialogue.

The deadline for abstract submissions is January 15, 2009. Full papers are due by May 1, 2009. Please direct enquiries to wilhelm.barner-rasmussen at hanken.fi.
