Language Requirements
If you need to submit a language proficiency test result, it has to be taken no later than the application deadline. In case the organiser of the test has to be requested to send the official score report to Hanken, the request has to be made before the application deadline. In order to be considered for admission the certificate / score report has to be valid and fulfil the language requirements (including minimum scores).
The applicant is obliged to demonstrate sufficient skills in English or Swedish through taking one of the following tests:
English
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System): A minimum score of 7. The test result can not be older than two (2) years.
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): A minimum score of 650 (Paper-based test) /250 (computer-based test) /100 (internet-based test). Hanken's code for the TOEFL test is 8433. The test result can not be older than two (2) years.
- CPE with a minimum score of Grade C.
- The national certificate of langugae proficiency in Finland (English), advanced level, minimum score of 6.
- CEF (Common Europan Framework of Reference for Languages) Level C1.2
Swedish
- The national certificate of language proficiency in Finland (Swedish), advanced level, minimum score of 6.
- Language exam for the public administration in Finland, advanced level.
No other tests are accepted.
Applicants that fulfil one of the criteria below are exempt from the language test requirements:
English
- Applicants with English as their mother tongue who have obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree with instruction only in English. A separate certificate from the higher education institution is required if this information is not stated on the degree or results transcript.
- Applicants who have completed their school education in Finland or in another
Nordic country. An attested copy of the school leaving certificate or the matriculation examination is required. - Applicants who have completed a Master's degree with instruction only in English in Finland or in another Nordic country. A separate certificate from the higher education institution is required if this information is not stated on the degree or results transcript.
