The Hanken Library

Information for Doctoral Students

Introduction

Each doctoral graduate at Hanken may publish the thesis in the Economics and Society series. You must:

  • follow the process and instructions for publishing in the series.
  • sign an agreement permitting electronic archival, publication and distribution on the school's website (Hanken also receives the commercial rights for the work).

The library handles distribution of the electronic copies, which are freely available to the public. Hanken additionally provides funds for a limited number of physical copies, primarily for use during the graduation process and to a lesser extent for interested third parties. These are printed at Edita (usually 80 copies, of which the author keeps 25 and the department 25).

Optional use of another publisher

If you choose not to publish your thesis through Hanken, you are still expected to provide 40 copies to the school. These are required by the dissertation process and the library, and should be made available at least 10 days before the dissertation.
